Scoot Rabbit – Branding, Website, eBook
background
‘Scoot Rabbit’ was a branding project aimed at selling kid’s merchandise through an eCommerce website. In order to generate consumer interest I created a marketing strategy that relied on developing emotional attachment to the identity ‘Scoot Rabbit’. In order to do this I wrote and illustrated kid’s eBooks as well as directing a cartoon short with the aim of keeping parents and kid’s emotionally invested in the brand.

Children’s animation
The first book ‘Scoot Rabbit Scoot’ was adapted into a short cartoon. The aim being to reach children via Youtube and to help grow the Scoot Rabbit brand. The animation was created with Adobe Animate, After Effects and Adobe Premiere.

Brand design
I wanted the logo to be fun and appeal to kids while also being easily recognisable as the main character Scoot Rabbit. The character’s pose is supposed to represents adventure while the choice of purple is because it’s a gender neutral colour that appeals to both boys and girls.
children’s ebook
This eBook was developed as downloadable gift for visitors to the website in return for their subscription details. This allowed us to keep them up-to-date on the latest Scoot Rabbit products. The story revolved around Scoot helping out an old rabbit. The illustrations are mixed media a combination of water colour, Adobe Animate and Photoshop.
children’s book 2
The 2nd eBook in the series introduced a new character, Molly Wombat with the aim to create a virtuous side-kick and another marketable character. The story revolves around two friends who try to help and comfort one another after eating something that they shouldn’t have.

By the end a responsive eCommerce website had been built along with eBooks and animation used to help grow the brand and drive business. This eCommerce adventure didn’t take off due to the expense of producing merchandise to sell on the website. Despite all the good creative work I also found it very difficult reaching an interested young audience without any assistance from a big media outlet such as Television. This endeavour is best described as a passion project with the goal of creating a successful brand that sold kid’s fashion accessories and merchandise.
